Fantasy Football/NFL Week 11 Preview

As a fantasy football team owner, one of the many obstacles you have to traverse are bye weeks. If you have several players on bye the same week, you might have to dig through your bench and the waiver wire to try to find a quality one-week replacement. This week, six teams are on a bye. I personally have tons of players on my fantasy teams who are off this week. That makes shrewd waiver wire adds even more important. Luckily, we only have one more week of byes after this week, but the two teams with the last byes are the Rams and Chiefs, possibly the two most impactful teams in fantasy football this week. So you may be looking for some diamonds in the rough the next two weeks, and hopefully my rankings can assist you.

Week 11 Fantasy Football Rankings

Quarterback

1. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (@ LAR) - The best matchup of the season (thus far) will probably end up being a shootout between two of the most innovative offenses in the NFL.

2. Jared Goff, Rams (vs. KC) - See Mahomes, Patrick.

3. Drew Brees, Saints (vs. PHI) - Brees has eight total touchdowns (and zero total interceptions) in his last two games.

4. Cam Newton, Panthers (@ DET) - Newton underwhelmed a bit last week, but he has thrown multiple touchdown passes in eight straight games.

5. Carson Wentz, Eagles (@ NO) - The Saints own one of the worst passing defenses in the league, and Wentz has thrown multiple touchdown passes in each of his last six games.

6. Matt Ryan, Falcons (vs. DAL) - Matt Ryan has scored the second-most fantasy point at the quarterback position this season (according to ESPN.com standard scoring).

7. Andrew Luck, Colts (vs. TEN) - Luck has thrown at least three touchdown passes in each of his last six games, and the offense around him has gotten healthier and better.

8. Deshaun Watson, Texans (@ WAS) - Watson seemed to hit his stride before last week's bye, and now he faces a defense that just gave up 406 yards to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

9. Mitchell Trubisky, Bears (vs. MIN) - Mitch(ell) is thriving in Matt Nagy's offense, as he's thrown for over 300 yards in four games and at least two touchdowns in six games.

10. Phillip Rivers, Chargers (vs. DEN) - Rivers doesn't get the easiest matchup this week, but he's thrown for multiple touchdowns in every game this season.

11. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buccaneers (@ NYG) - Fitz threw zero touchdowns and two interceptions last week vs. Washington, but he did throw for 406 yards, and this week's opponent is inferior.

12. Kirk Cousins, Vikings (@ CHI) - Captain Kirk threw for just 164 yards last week and he gets a tough matchup this week, but he will likely be throwing the ball a lot.

13. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (@ JAX) - Speaking of tough matchups, Big Ben has one this week, which should give owners pause even in the aftermath of his five touchdowns last week.

14. Dak Prescott, Cowboys (@ ATL) - This is an extremely favorable matchup for Dak, who had 270 yards passing and two total touchdowns last week against Philadelphia.

15. Matthew Stafford, Lions (vs. CAR) - Stafford has not put up great numbers this season, but the Panthers did just give up five touchdowns to Ben Roethlisberger.

16. Marcus Mariota, Titans (@ IND) - During Tennessee's current two-game winning streak, Mariota has 521 total yards and five total touchdowns.

17. Lamar Jackson, Ravens (vs. CIN) - LJ is raw, but his athleticism and upside are enticing, especially if he starts this week against a reeling Cincinnati squad.

18. Eli Manning, Giants (vs. TB) - The younger Manning is not good (the 2018 version of him isn't), but he does draw a favorable matchup after throwing for three touchdowns Monday night.

19. Blake Bortles, Jaguars (vs. PIT) - Maybe will get Good Blake against the exploitable Pittsburgh defense this week.

20. Alex Smith, Redskins (vs. HOU) - Eh.

Running Back

1. Todd Gurley II, Rams (vs. KC) - The NFL's leading rusher faces one of the NFL's worst defenses Monday night.

2. Alvin Kamara, Saints (vs. PHI) - The dangerous and versatile Kamara faces off against a team that just surrendered 151 yards (rushing) to Ezekiel Elliott.

3. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (@ ATL) - Speaking of Zeke, he gets a Falcons defense that got gashed by rookie Nick Chubb last week.

4. David Johnson, Cardinals (vs. OAK) - Johnson racked up 183 total yards last week, and now he has a matchup with the atrocious Oakland defense.

5. Melvin Gordon III, Chargers (vs. DEN) - The Broncos, who haven't been great at stopping opposing running backs, face a guy who had 165 total yards last week.

6. Saquon Barkley, Giants (vs. TB) - The Bucs also haven't been great against the run, which is good news for the talented rookie.

7. Kareem Hunt, Chiefs (@ LAR) - I expect this game to be a lot like the Rams-Saints game as couple weeks ago, in which Saints running back Alvin Kamara totaled 116 yards and three TDs.

8. Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (@ DET) - There are a lot of running backs who have good matchups this week, but matchup doesn't matter for CMC.

9. James Connor, Steelers (@ JAX) - Le'Veon Bell didn't walk through that door, which means this season belongs to Connor, who has scored in each of his last five games.

10. Leonard Fournette, Jaguars (vs. PIT) - Fournette was fed heavily (24 carries, five catches) in his first game back from injury, and he turned those opportunities into two end zone trips.

11. Joe Mixon, Bengals (@ BAL) - The last time these two teams met, Mixon ran for 84 yards, and this time, Cincinnati won't have A.J. Green to give the ball to.

12. Dion Lewis, Titans (@ IND) - Dion has become the clear top weapon in the backfield, and Indy gave up a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown to Leonard Fournette last week.

13. Kerryon Johnson, Lions (vs. CAR) - Like Fournette, Johnson scored one by ground and one by ground last week, and he'll probably find the end zone again this week.

14. Tarik Cohen, Bears (vs. MIN) - The Chicago offense is flying high right now, which means Cohen is also flying high.

15. Dalvin Cook, Vikings (@ CHI) - Dalvin, who 109 total yards in his return from injury last week, faces a defense that allowed two total touchdowns to Kerryon Johnson last week.

16. Mark Ingram II, Saints (vs. PHI) - Ingram ran for 104 yards in last week's blowout of Cincy (and scored a receiving touchdown).

17. Phillip Lindsay, Broncos (@ LAC) - Royce Freeman might return this week, but Lindsay is the top dog going into a game against a defense that gave up 61 yards on 15 carries to Doug Martin.

18. Tevin Coleman, Falcons (vs. DAL) - Coleman didn't do much last week, but he had scored in each of the three games before that.

19. Marlon Mack, Colts (vs. TEN) - Mack was bottled up by Jacksonville's defense last week, and he has to deal with another strong defense this week.

20. Alex Collins, Ravens (vs. CIN) - Collins is a bit touchdown-dependent, but he has scored in three of his last four games and gets a good matchup this week.

21. Adrian Peterson, Redskins (vs. HOU) - The tough veteran should once again see a high-volume day with Chris Thompson unlikely to play.

22. Lamar Miller, Texans (@ WAS) - Miller had two straight games over 100 yards, but then did nothing against Denver two weeks ago.

23. Doug Martin, Raiders (@ ARI) - Martin's problem the last three weeks has been volume, not effectiveness, and he might get more volume against a team the Raiders can hang with.

24. Peyton Barber, Buccaneers (@ NYG) - Tampa Bay's top back had 61 yards on 13 carries last week and faces a vulnerable New York defense this week.

25. Jordan Howard, Bears (vs. MIN) - I remember when Howard was one of the best running backs in fantasy, but with the emergence of the rest of Chicago's offense, he's taken a back seat.

26. Jalen Richard, Raiders (@ ARI) - The PPR option has at least five catches in six of his nine games this season.

27. T.J. Yeldon, Jaguars (vs. PIT) - Jacksonville's third-down back has at least five catches in each of his last three games.

28. Derrick Henry, Titans (@ IND) - While Dion Lewis has taken most of the backfield touches, Tennessee's goal line back does have four touchdowns in the last three games.

29. Ito Smith, Falcons (vs. DAL) - Smith should be stay active enough to be a low-end option.

30. Josh Adams, Eagles (@ NO) - Adams has been the most impressive running back on the Eagles this year, which has led to more carries.

Wide Receiver

1. Michael Thomas, Saints (vs. PHI) - You can't guard Mike, who has 20 catches, 281 yards and three touchdowns the last two weeks.

2. Odell Beckham Jr., Giants (vs. TB) - OBJ has been targeted 11 times each of his last three games, and he will do damage with those targets against Tampa's porous pass defense.

3. Julio Jones, Falcons (vs. DAL) - Not only has J.J. eclipsed 100 yard in each of his last four games, he has found the end zone in each of his last two.

4. Adam Thielen, Vikings (@ CHI) - A.T. had his eight-game streak of 100-yard receiving games snapped last week, but not his six-game touchdown streak.

5. DeAndre Hopkins, Texans (@ WAS) - D.H. (I enjoy referring to people by their initials sometimes) has scored five touchdowns in his last four games.

6. Tyreek Hill, Chiefs (@ LAR) - This will likely be a high-scoring contest, which is obviously welcome news for Kansas City's most dangerous offensive weapon.

7. Antonio Brown, Steelers (@ JAX) - If anyone can beat Jalen Ramsey, it's AB, who has found the end zone in every game this season but one.

8. Brandin Cooks, Rams (vs. KC) - I'm buying all the fantasy stock I can afford in this game, especially the Cooper Kupp-less L.A. receiving corps against the weak KC defense.

9. Robert Woods, Rams (vs. KC) - See Cooks, Brandin.

10. Keenan Allen, Chargers (vs. DEN) - Phillip Rivers' favorite target should have another productive game this week.

11. Mike Evans, Buccaneers (@ NYG) - Evans is a little banged up, but he should still be able to produce against the Giants.

12. Stefon Diggs, Vikings (@ CHI) - Diggs has been targeted a total of 29 times in the past two weeks, so, if nothing else, he'll get great volume.

13. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Steelers (@ JAX) - JuJu will not be matched up with Jalen Ramsey, so he could feast.

14. T.Y. Hilton, Colts (vs. TEN) - T.Y. went for 77 yards last week despite the presence of Jalen Ramsey.

15. Corey Davis, Titans (@ IND) - Yes, I have hopped aboard the Corey Davis bandwagon after two straight weeks with 10 targets (and 125 yards and a touchdown last week).

16. Amari Cooper, Cowboys (@ ATL) - In two games since arriving in Dallas, Cooper has been targeted 18 times. After scoring a touchdown in his first game, he had 75 yards last week.

17. Sammy Watkins, Chiefs (@ LAR) - Like I said, I'm buying all the fantasy stock I can (not including defenses) in this primetime showdown.

18. Alshon Jeffery, Eagles (@ NO) - New Orleans has been the most generous defense to opposing wide receivers.

19. Emmanuel Sanders, Broncos (@ LAC) - After two straight weeks above 100 yards, Sanders has 57 and 47 the last two weeks (respectively), but that may go up this week.

20. Kenny Golladay, Lions (vs. CAR) - After a few quiet weeks, Golladay was targeted 13 times against Chicago, turning that into 78 yards and a touchdown.

21. Tyler Boyd, Bengals (@ BAL) - He was only targeted four times last week (and Baltimore is not an ideal matchup), but he's still Cincy's top wide receiver with A.J. Green out.

22. Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals (vs. OAK) - Larry Legend has been targeted 22 total times the last two weeks, and this week he gets a matchup with the tanking Raiders.

23. Allen Robinson, Bears (vs. MIN) - A-Rob exploded for 133 yards and two touchdowns last week, but he had just one catch for four yards the game prior.

24. Demaryius Thomas, Texans (@ WAS) - Following a bye week, Thomas might be more involved than in his first game, when he had three catches for 61 yards (all on the first drive).

25. Sterling Shepherd, Giants (vs. TB) - Sterling wasn't very involved last week, but he did find the end zone, and he does get a good matchup this week.

26. Golden Tate, Eagles (@ NO) - Tate only played 18 snaps in his first game in Philly, but he should see a lot more action against a weak New Orleans pass defense.

27. John Brown, Ravens (vs. CIN) - Although he's been quiet recently, Brown has been targeted a total of 20 times the last three games.

28. Devin Funchess, Panthers (@ DET) - He has upside against the Detroit defense, even though he hasn't done much in recent weeks.

29. Courtland Sutton, Broncos (@ LAC) - He didn't impress in his first game sans Demayius Thomas, but Sutton still has upside as the number two receiver.

30. Michael Crabtree, Ravens (vs CIN) - Crabtree has been targeted at least seven times in seven games this season.

Tight End

1. Travis Kelce, Chiefs (@ LAR) - Yeah, I'll take the league's best tight end in what will likely be a shootout.

2. Zach Ertz, Eagles (@ NO) - Yeah, I'll take the guy who had 14 catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns last week against New Orleans.

3. Greg Olsen, Panthers (@ DET) - Since returning from injury, Olsen has had three touchdowns and 28 targets in five games.

4. Austin Hooper, Falcons (vs. DAL) - Hooper was Atlanta's biggest star in Cleveland last week, notching 10 catches for 56 yards and a touchdown.

5. O.J. Howard, Buccaneers (vs. NYG) - He didn't do much last week, but Tampa's top tight end will probably be more involved this week.

6. Eric Ebron, Colts (vs. TEN) - Ebron is sort of touchdown-dependent, but he has nine touchdowns on the season (he's scored in every game but two).

7. Evan Engram, Giants (@ TB) - The other tight end with the initials "EE" has been targeted 18 times in the three games since he returned from injury.

8. Trey Burton, Bears (vs. MIN) - As long as Chicago's offense is grooving, Burton is a viable tight end option.

9. Jack Doyle, Colts (vs. TEN) - Doyle has played a lot more snaps than Eric Ebron, but he hasn't found the end zone nearly as much.

10. Jared Cook, Raiders (@ ARI) - Cook has cooled off considerably since earlier this season, but he was targeted nine times last week.

11. Jordan Reed, Redskins (vs. HOU) - Reed has been targeted 24 total times the last three games.

12. Kyle Rudolph, Vikings (@ CHI) - Rudolph was only targeted twice last week, but he was targeted seven times the week before that.

13. Vance McDonald, Steelers (@ JAX) - Eric Ebron scored two touchdowns against Jacksonville last week, which bodes well for McDonald, who scored a touchdown last week.

14. Ricky Seals-Jones, Cardinals (vs. OAK) - Seals-Jones was targeted nine times last week, turning it into five catches for 51 yards.

15. Jeff Heuerman, Broncos (@ LAC) - I don't expect a game like two weeks ago (10 catches, 83 yards, a touchdown), but Jeff is still worth a look.

16. C.J. Uzomah (@ BAL) - You's imagine the Bengals will play better than they did last week, when Uzomah had three catches for 23 yards.

17. Benjamin Watson, Saints (vs. PHI) - Watson had just one catch last week, but he had three catches for 62 yards and a touchdown the week before.

18. Gerald Everett, Rams (vs. KC) - I did say I'm buying as much offensive fantasy stock as possible in this game, and Everett did score a touchdown last week.

19. Vernon Davis, Redskins
(vs. HOU) - Davis did nothing last game, but he caught five passes for 62 yards the week before.

20. James O'Shaughnessy, Jaguars (vs. PIT) - He had five catches for 46 yards last week.

Defense/Special Teams

1. Baltimore Ravens (vs. CIN) - The Bengals have had some struggles offensively and are without A.J. Green.

2. Arizona Cardinals (vs. OAK) - The Raiders are the worst team in the NFL, and the Cardinals aren't horrible defensively.

3. Chicago Bears (vs. MIN) - The Bears own the league's best defense, and the Minnesota offense has been shaky at times.

4. Los Angeles Chargers (vs. DEN) - Case Keenum shouldn't scare the solid Chargers defense that much.

5. Houston Texans (@ WAS) - Alex Smith and the Washington offense shouldn't strike much fear into Houston's talented defense.

6. Pittsburgh Steelers (@ JAX) - The Pittsburgh defense played well against Carolina last week, and Jacksonville doesn't have the offensive weapons that Carolina does.

7. Carolina Panthers (@ DET) - Speaking of the Panthers, they should bounce back against a scuffling Detroit offense.

8. Minnesota Vikings (@ CHI) - Although Chicago's offense has played well, Minnesota's defense is no small task.

9. Tennessee Titans (@ IND) - Same goes for Indianapolis' offense and Tennessee's defense.

10. Washington Redskins (vs. HOU) - Washington has a stout defense.

Kicker

1. Greg Zuerlein, Rams (vs. KC)

2. Harrison Butker, Chiefs (@ LAR)

3. Will Lutz, Saints (vs. PHI)

4. Justin Tucker, Ravens (vs. CIN)

5. Graham Gano, Panthers (@ DET)

6. Jake Elliott, Eagles (@ NO)

7. Adam Vinatieri, Colts (vs TEN)

8. Ryan Succop, Titans (@ IND)

9. Matt Prater, Lions (vs. CAR)

10. Matt Bryant, Falcons (vs. DAL)
