Fantasy Football/NFL Week 5 Preview

Many of the best athletes in the world have short memories. I'm not going to look and see how accurate my rankings were last week. I'm not going to dwell on the excruciating loss the Browns suffered against the Raiders last week. I'm just going to move on to this week.

Image result for antonio brown
Antonio Brown should have a great week against Atlanta

Quarterback

1. Matt Ryan, Falcons (@ PIT) - This should be a high-scoring game between two shoddy defenses. The Steelers rank 30th in total defense (420.5 yards allowed per game).

2. Aaron Rodgers, Packers (@ DET)

3. Phillip Rivers, Chargers (vs. OAK)

4. Drew Brees, Saints (vs. WSH)

5. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (vs. ATL) - On the other hand, Atlanta ranks 30th in points allowed per game (30.5).

6. Deshaun Watson, Texans (vs. DAL)

7. Matthew Stafford, Lions (vs. GB)

8. Tom Brady, Patriots (vs. IND)

9. Patrick Mahomes II, Chiefs (vs. JAX) - Patty Mahomes is still an elite fantasy option at quarterback this week, but he plays the best defense in the NFL.

10. Jared Goff, Rams (@ SEA)

11. Andrew Luck, Colts (@ NE) - Luck will be playing without T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle, but he'll probably be throwing the ball a whole lot in New England.

12. Kirk Cousins, Vikings (@ PHI)

13. Andy Dalton, Bengals (vs. MIA)

14. Carson Wentz, Eagles (vs. MIN)

15. Blake Bortles, Jaguars (@ KC) - Bortles isn't a world-beater by any means, but he does face the worst defense in the NFL this week.

16. Alex Smith, Redskins (@ NO)

17. Derek Carr, Raiders (@ LAC)

18. Russell Wilson, Seahawks (vs. LAR)

19. Marcus Mariota, Titans (@ BUF)

20. Baker Mayfield, Browns (vs. BAL) - The Ravens are a much better defensive team than the Raiders, but I'm still on the Baker Bandwagon.

Running Backs

1. Todd Gurley II, Rams (@ SEA) - Gurley is a top-five play every week, and this week he gets the 27th-ranked Seattle run defense (122.5 yards allowed per game).

2. Alvin Kamara, Saints (vs. WSH)

3. Melvin Gordon, Chargers (vs. OAK) - Rookie Nick Chubb ran rampant on Oakland last week, so one of the NFL's top rushers should have a good day on Sunday.

4. Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (@ HOU)

5. Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (vs. NYG)

6. Saquon Barkley, Giants (@ CAR)

7. David Johnson, Cardinals (vs. SF)

8. James Conner, Steelers (vs. ATL) - The Falcons have given up more receiving yards to running backs than any other team, which bodes well for Connor, who has been productive catching the ball.

9. Kareem Hunt, Chiefs (vs. JAX)

10. T.J. Yeldon, Jaguars (@ KC)

11. Joe Mixon, Bengals (vs. MIA)

12. Sony Michel, Patriots (vs. IND) - Michel had a breakout game last week, and he could be in for more of the same in a game where the Pats are heavily favorite.

13. Carlos Hyde, Browns (vs. BAL)

14. James White, Patriots (vs. IND)

15. Devonta Freeman, Falcons (@ PIT)

16. Dalvin Cook, Vikings (@ PHI)

17. Chris Thompson, Redskins (@ NO)

18. Marshawn Lynch, Raiders (@ LAC)

19. Dion Lewis, Titans (@ BUF)

20. Matt Breida, 49ers (vs. ARI)

21. Alex Collins, Ravens (@ CLE) - Marshawn Lynch literally ran over Cleveland last week. Collins isn't Lynch, but running backs have been productive against the Browns this year.

22. Mark Ingram II, Saints (vs. WSH) - Ingram is finally back from suspension, and while he'll (obviously) take a back seat to Alvin Kamara, but he should get a decent amount of work.

23. Lamar Miller, Texans (vs. DAL)

24. Jay Ajayi, Eagles (vs. MIN)

25. Adrian Peterson, Redskins (@ NO)

26. Phillip Lindsay, Broncos (@ NYJ) - The undrafted rookie had a productive game Monday night, but so did fellow rookie Royce Freeman.

27. Tevin Coleman, Falcons (@ PIT)

28. Chris Carson, Seahawks (vs. LAR)

29. Kerryon Johnson, Lions (vs. GB)

30. Royce Freeman, Broncos (@ NYJ) - Freeman was actually more efficient than Lindsay Monday night, but Lindsay still got more carries.

Wide Receivers

1. Antonio Brown, Steelers (vs. ATL) - AB should be open a lot against the porous Atlanta pass defense.

2. Julio Jones, Falcons (@ PIT)

3. Michael Thomas, Saints (vs. WSH)

4. DeAndre Hopkins, Texans (vs. DAL)

5. Adam Thielen, Vikings (@ PHI) - In all four contests, Theilen has seen double-digit targets and accumulated over 100 yards.

6. Odell Beckham Jr., Giants (@ CAR)

7. A.J. Green, Bengals (vs. MIA)

8. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Steelers (vs. ATL) - JuJu had "only" 60 yards last week after going for over 100 yards in each of his first three games, but he'll get plenty of work in this shootout.

9. Keenan Allen, Chargers (vs. OAK)

10. Devante Adams, Packers (@ DET)

11. Stefon Diggs, Vikings (@ PHI)

12. Brandin Cooks, Rams (@ SEA)

13. Jarvis Landry, Browns (vs. BAL)

14. Golden Tate, Lions (vs. GB)

15. Corey Davis, Titans (@ BUF) - The second-year pro out of CMU had a breakout game last week (161 yards, 1 TD), and I think that continues against the lowly Bills.

16. Robert Woods, Rams (@ SEA)

17. Tyreek Hill, Chiefs (vs. JAX) - Tyreek Hill vs. Jalen Ramsey will be a matchup to watch, and it might not go Hill's way.

18. Will Fuller V, Texans (vs. DAL)

19. Cooper Kupp, Rams (@ SEA) - Kupp was the best L.A. receiver last week, going for 162 yards and two touchdowns. I think all of the Rams' top three receivers are good plays.

20. Emmanuel Sanders, Broncos (@ NYJ)

21. Kenny Golladay, Lions (vs. GB)

22. Calvin Ridley, Falcons (@ PIT) - Ridley may not score two touchdowns again, but the rookie is clearly a big part of this offense, which should have a good day against Pittsburgh.

23. John Brown, Ravens (@ CLE)

24. Tyler Boyd, Bengals (vs. MIA)

25. Alshon Jeffery, Eagles (vs. MIN)

26. Marvin Jones Jr., Lions (vs. GB)

27. Doug Baldwin, Seahawks (vs. LAR) - Baldwin is back, and I think he'll slide right back in as Russell Wilson's number one target.

28. Ryan Grant, Colts (@ NE) - With T.Y. Hilton out, Grant is Andrew Luck's number one receiver tonight.

29. Amari Cooper, Raiders (@ LAC)

30. Julian Edelman, Patriots (vs. IND) - Edelman is back from suspension, but it might take him a little time to get going.

Tight End

1. Zack Ertz, Eagles (vs. MIN) - After catching 10 passes for 112 yards last week, Ertz is the top fantasy option at tight end.

2. Rob Gronkowski, Patriots (vs. IND)

3. Travis Kelce, Chiefs (vs. JAX)

4. Jared Cook, Raiders (@ LAC) - Cook has been Oakland's leading pass catcher so far this season, and he'll probably be heavily-used again this week.

5. Jordan Reed, Redskins (@ NO)

6. George Kittle, 49ers (vs. ARI) - After Jimmy G got hurt two weeks ago, C.J. Beathard threw to Kittle eight times last week, resulting in six catches for 125 yards and a touchdown.

7. Jimmy Graham, Packers (vs. DET)

8. Kyle Rudolph, Vikings (@ PHI)

9. Eric Ebron, Colts (@ NE) - Ebron has looked good in a Colts uniform, and he's in for another productive night with Jack Doyle and T.Y. Hilton out.

10. Vance McDonald, Steelers (vs. ATL)

11. David Njoku, Browns (vs. BAL)

12. Austin Hooper, Falcons (@ PIT)

13. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Jets (vs. DEN)

14. Benjamin Watson, Saints (vs. WSH)

15. Ricky Seals-Jones, Cardinals (@ SF)

16. Antonio Gates, Chargers (vs. OAK)

17. Charles Clay, Bills (vs. TEN)

18. Rhett Ellison, Giants (@ CAR) - With Evan Engram out again, Ellison is the top tight end for the Giants.

19. Dallas Goedert, Eagles (vs. MIN)

20. Tyler Kroft, Bengals (vs. MIA) - After Tyler Eifert's injury last week, Kroft becomes the top tight end in Cincinnati.

Defense/Special Teams

1. Tennessee Titans (@ BUF)

2. Los Angeles Rams (@ SEA)

3. Denver Broncos (@ NYJ)

4. Carolina Panthers (@ NYG)

5. Cincinnati Bengals (vs. MIA)

6. Arizona Cardinals (@ SF)

7. Los Angeles Chargers (vs. OAK)

8. Houston Texans (vs. DAL)

9. Baltimore Ravens (@ CLE)

10. New England Patriots (vs. IND)

Kicker

1. Justin Tucker, Ravens (@ CLE)

2. Will Lutz, Saints (vs. WSH)

3. Matt Prater, Lions (vs. GB)

4. Matt Bryant, Falcons (@ PIT)

5. Mason Crosby, Packers (@ DET)

6. Stephen Gostkowski, Patriots (vs. IND)

7. Adam Vinatieri, Colts (@ NE)

8. Harrison Butker, Chiefs (vs. JAX)

9. Cairo Santos, Rams (@ SEA)

10. Jake Elliott, Eagles (vs. MIN)
