This B1G Week 1/28-2/3

Hello and welcome friends to another edition of this B1G Week. The B1G storyline of last week has to be Michigan State losing their first conference game since January 13th of last year. The Spartans went to West Lafayette on Sunday and were dominated for a lot of the game against the Boilers. Purdue, who coming into league play looked to be having a very down year for them, has set themselves up for a top-five finish in the league, even possibly competing for the title.

Another B1G storyline in the league is Penn State who is currently 0-9 in the conference. The Nittany Lion entered the year with tournament hopes coming off their NIT title and now they are struggling just to win one game in conference. This just goes to show you that the Big Ten is unforgiving this year.

Nonconference Game of the Midweek

Tuesday - 7 pm - ESPN 2 - 3 Virginia @ 23 North Carolina State - In another tight matchup in the ACC Virginia goes up against NC State. The Wolfpack is in their second year under Kevin Keatts and are looking to make some noise and show they are real contenders in the league. I like them to get the upset at home and show the world they are serious in the conference.

Nonconference Game of the Weekend

Saturday - 4 pm - CBS - 16 Texas Tech @ 11 Kansas - In a battle between two of the title contenders in the Big 12 the Red Raiders visit the Jayhawks. Kansas is coming off a hard-fought loss at Kentucky last weekend and is looking to secure the pole position in the Big 12 for their 15th straight conference crown. Kansas has looked a little lost in recent weeks but I like them to find their mojo at home.

This B1G Week 1/21-27

Hello and welcome friends to another edition of this B1G Week. Not going to lie, last week wasn't the best picking week Grant and I ever had. Some may say we're not great at this, but I like to think of it as the conference being good and unpredictable. That unpredictability is our B1G storyline of last week. Wisconsin upsetting Michigan might have been a surprise to some, but not I, the genius who correctly predicted that, and certainly the majority of people didn't see Illinois beating Minnesota by almost 27 points.

Nonconference Game of the Midweek

Monday - 7 pm - ESPN - 10 Virginia Tech @ 11 North Carolina - Another week, another top 15 matchup in the midweek featuring Virginia Tech. The Hokies go to Chapel Hill for a showdown with the Tar Heels. These two teams are challenging for a top spot in the ACC, and it will be a tight contest. I like UNC to pull it out in the end due to something in the biz we like to call being the home team.

Nonconference Game of the Weekend

Saturday - 6 pm - ESPN - 9 Kansas @ 8 Kentucky - A battle of the K states is going down on Saturday night. UK has been playing well the last few games and are going up against the Jayhawks, who had a tough loss the past weekend. I like Kansas in this one, though I expect it to be a close, tough battle.

This B1G Week 1/14-20

Hello and welcome friends to another edition of this B1G Week. The B1G storyline from last week is how this conference continues to show just how tough it is. Michigan and Michigan State has remained unscathed so far in the league yet the rest of the conference continues to beat up on themselves. Just ask Ohio State who entered last week ranked 16th but ended the week with two road losses against Rutgers and Iowa.

Putting on the Phil of the Future glasses to see into the future, this week's B1G storyline is going to be upsets. Both Michigans have tough, tough road tests this week. Nebraska had a rough start to the conference season but are starting to play better and are a tough out in Lincoln. Michigan goes on the road to Wisconsin on Saturday. The Badgers may not be playing their best ball at the moment but I'd never count them out in the Kohl Center. Regardless I severally doubt there are two undefeated teams come next week's edition.

Nonconference Game of the Midweek

Tuesday - 8 pm - ACC Network - 9 Virginia Tech @ 4 Virginia - Virginia may be for lovers but this week it's for basketball. Virginia's week is crazy and it begins Tuesday night against ten top, in-state foe Virginia Tech. I expect the teams to bring their A-Games as they battle it out. I think the University of Virginia will win it out and build momentum going into this weekend's heavy-weight showdown.

Nonconference Game of the Weekend

Saturday - 6 pm - ESPN - 4 Virginia @ 1 Duke - Speaking of this game, it's clearly the game of the weekend. Virginia closes out their tough week with a trip to Durham to do battle with the Blue Devils. These two teams are going to be in competition with each other all season for the conference crown and the national title. I like the Cavs going on the road in this one and staying undefeated. Their defense is just as dominant as ever but add along what might be their best offense to date.

This B1G Week 1/7-13

Welcome to the newest ongoing series on Head In The Game, This B1G Week. If you've checked out our Big Ten Power Rankings, this will be somewhat similar with some changes. Each week we will preview the games in the week ahead, give two non-Big Ten games to look out for, and give an updated Power Ranking for the league.

Last week saw plenty of competitive matchups as the league resumed play. There were two games decided by two points and several good back and forth games. Michigan State picked up a big win in their trip to Columbus on Saturday against an Ohio State team who will stay in contention for the title for the majority of the season. Minnesota also picked up a quality win on the road beating Wisconsin, a place that many teams have difficulty winning. Now for a look at what's happening out of conference.

Nonconference Game of the Midweek

Tuesday - 9 pm - ESPN - 12 North Carolina @ 15 North Carolina State - In a top 15 battle in the Triangle both teams are looking to make their place known in the ACC. Each team has an opportunity to pick up wins that'll help them greatly come tournament time. In tight games, I like favoring the home team which is why I'm taking the Wolfpack to take this one over their rivals.

Nonconference Game of the Weekend

Saturday - 2 pm - ESPN - 1 Duke @ 13 Florida State - Sticking with the ACC we have another top 15 matchups. This is Duke's second true road game and their first big road test. Florida State took their second loss of the season last weekend against number four Virginia on the road. While Florida State is a quality team they showed they might but be up to par with the top of the ACC which is why I like Duke in this one.

Power Ranking

Big Ten Basketball New Year Power Ranking

Non-conference season and the early December Big Ten play are over and now it's time for the real fun to begin. The league has proven thus far that they are the deepest in the country, and if anyone tries to argue with me, they'd be wrong (suck it Southwestern Athletic Conference). I'm about to tell you the definitively undefinitive Big Ten power ranking going into conference play.

1. Michigan

Rankings: 2 (AP), 4 (Coaches), 4 (KenPom), 2 (NET)

Current Record: 13-0 (2-0)

Key Wins: @ Villanova 73-46, North Carolina 84-67

Bad Loses: None

Takeaways: Michigan was great in non-conference play. They were dominant in their games against defending champs Villanova and North Carolina. They're clearly the team to beat, even if in recent games they have seemed beatable (if they don't bring their A game).

2. Michigan State

Rankings: 8 (AP), 7 (Coaches), 6 (KenPom), 9 (NET)

Current Record: 11-2 (2-0)

Key Wins: Texas (Neutral Court) 78-68, @ Florida 63-59

Bad Loses: None

Takeaways: The Spartans have shown they're a solid number two in the league who will compete with their neighbors in Ann Arbor. They have solid wins over Texas and Florida, and their only two losses are against Kansas and at a Louisville team who is going to surprise some people.

3. Ohio State

Rankings: 14 (AP), 12 (Coaches), 26 (KenPom), 21 (NET)

Current Record: 12-1 (2-0)

Key Wins: Cincinnati 64-56, @ Creighton 69-60

Bad Loses: Syracuse (62-72)

Takeaways: Ohio State has been the nicest surprise this season. They lost some key pieces from last year, yet have put together a quality team. The loss at home to the perennially overrated Syracuse team hurts as it is a game they really should've won, but it seems to just be a blip on the season as whole.

4. Indiana

Rankings: 21 (AP), 22 (Coaches), 25 (KenPom), 20 (NET)

Current Record: 11-2 (2-0)

Key Wins: Marquette 96-73, Louisville 68-67, Butler (Neutral Court) 71-68

Bad Loses: None

Takeaways: The Hoosiers had a good non-conference season. People will remember their poor performance at Duke, but to be fair, few teams will be able to compete with Duke. They were one bad foul call away from being 12-1. Additionally, Juwan Morgan should be player of the year. That is all.

5. Wisconsin

Rankings: 22 (AP), 23 (Coaches), 14 (KenPom), 13 (NET)

Current Record: 10-3 (2-0)

Key Wins: Oklahoma (Neutral Court) 78-58, North Carolina State 79-75

Bad Loses: @ Western Kentucky 76-83

Takeaways: The Badgers have shown they are a legit contender in the Big Ten, yet took a big step back this past weekend. They've put together some good wins and are 2-0 in conference, yet end non-conference play with a lose to Western Kentucky. Time will tell if this was a one-off (their two other losses are to a good Marquette team and a great Virginia team), or indicative of bigger issues. Regardless, I still think they're a sure bet to go to the tournament.

6. Nebraska

Rankings: 25 (AP), Tied-23 (Coaches), 15 (KenPom), 12 (NET)

Current Record: 11-2 (1-1)

Key Wins: Seton Hall 80-57, @ Clemson 68-66, Creighton 94-75, Oklahoma State (Neutral Court) 79-56

Bad Loses: None

Takeaways: Nebraska had some good wins over quality competition. Of the four wins I listed as quality, only one wasn't by 20ish. They have plenty of experience on the team, even if their bench is still light on talent.

7. Iowa

Rankings: 25 (AP), Tied 20 (Coaches), 41 (KenPom), 35 (NET)

Current Record: 11-2 (0-2)

Key Wins: Oregon (Neutral Court) 77-69, UCONN (Neutral Court) 91-72

Bad Loses: None

Takeaways: The big difference between this Iowa team and last years - which went 14-19 on the year - is that this team occasionally plays defense. It's not necessarily good defense, but it's still defense. They had the toughest December conference slate out of anyone, which explains the 0-2 record. I'm sure that will improve over the next 18 games.

8. Maryland

Rankings: Unranked (AP), Unranked (Coaches), 31 (KenPom), 41 (NET)

Current Record: 10-3 (1-1)

Key Wins: None

Bad Loses: None

Takeaways: Maryland is a team that has a lot to prove in league play. They didn't get any high quality wins during non-conference play and dropped a winnable game at Purdue. Maryland is talented, but needs to get some wins over the top end of the league to make the big dance.

9. Minnesota

Rankings: Unranked (AP), Unranked (Coaches), 63 (KenPom), 45 (NET)

Current Record: 11-2 (1-1)

Key Wins: Utah 78-69, Texas A&M (Neutral Court) 69-64, Washington (Neutral Court) 68-66, Oklahoma State (Neutral Court, Kinda) 83-76

Bad Loses: @ Boston College 56-68

Takeaways: Minnesota had a quietly good non-conference season. They have wins over four major conference teams, even though none of them seem to be serious threats in their respective leagues. The Golden Gophers had a solid victory over Nebraska in December conference play, which proves they can be competitive in the league.

10. Purdue

Rankings: Unranked (AP), Unranked (Coaches), 19 (KenPom), 29 (NET)

Current Record: 8-5 (1-1)

Key Wins: None

Bad Loses: Notre Dame (Neutral Court) 80-88

Takeaways: Purdue is a team I'm surprised people are still so high on. Offensively, the team is over-reliant on one player, Carson Edwards. They had some opportunities to knock off some quality teams, yet fell short each time. I count the Notre Dame game as a bad loss since, despite the final score, they were never really in the game.

11. Northwestern

Rankings: Unranked (AP), Unranked (Coaches), 46 (KenPom), 54 (NET)

Current Record: 9-4 (0-2)

Key Wins: Utah (Neutral Court) 79-57

Bad Loses: Fresno State (Neutral Court) 78-59

Takeaways: I would put the Wildcats in the tier of Big Ten teams that could move up into the discussion of a NCAA tournament birth. They may be at the bottom of the tier for me, but they may surprise some teams in the league, just like how both Michigan and Indiana barely escaped with wins in December.

12. Penn State

Rankings: Unranked (AP), Unranked (Coaches), 45 (KenPom), 79 (NET)

Current Record: 7-6 (0-2)

Key Wins: Virginia Tech 63-62

Bad Loses: Bradley (Neutral Court) 56-59,

Takeaways: Penn State is a confusing team to talk about. They have a very good win against Virginia Tech, yet a bad loss to Bradley. They play a style that gives a lot of teams in the league fits and their lack of atmosphere at home is a surprisingly big advantage. Still, I doubt they will finish in the top half even if they do upset a team or two.

13. Rutgers

Rankings: Unranked (AP), Unranked (Coaches), 110 (KenPom), 134 (NET)

Current Record: 7-5 (0-2)

Key Wins: @ Miami 57-54

Bad Loses: @ Fordham 70-78

Takeaways: Slowly but steadily, Rutgers is getting better. The Scarlet Knights played tough against MSU and Wisconsin in December conference play, which is a sign of a program becoming competitive in the league. While this year still won't be one that would be considered a break-out, I won't be surprised if they upset someone when they come to New Jersey.

14. Illinois

Rankings: Unranked (AP), Unranked (Coaches), 113 (KenPom), 129 (NET)

Current Record: 4-9 (0-2)

Key Wins: UNLV 77-74

Bad Loses: Florida Atlantic 71-73

Takeaways: Illinois is just not a good team. They've had a fairly tough schedule with all but one loss coming against major conference teams. That being said, nine losses is way too many, and losing to a team ranked over 200 in KenPom at home gives you little hope in this team.

Week 17 Fantasy Football NFL Preview

The wild ride that is the 2018 NFL regular season is almost over. It's been 16 weeks of amazing plays, incredible performances and shocking finishes, and Week 17 is sure to bring more. I would like to thank all of my readers who have stuck with me through this whole season and continued to support me and this blog. Patrick Mahomes should win the NFL MVP, but, to quote Kevin Durant (I'm crossing sports here), "You the real MVP". Many fantasy leagues had their championship last week, and I would like to congratulate everyone who came out victorious in fantasy football this year. For some people (including myself), the fantasy season is not over. So, for those of you playing for a fantasy football championship this week, here are my Week 17 Picks to Click.

Image result for pat mahomes
Pat Mahomes should be the NFL MVP... no, I meant Pat Mahomes II.

Week 17 Picks to Click

QB

Top 3

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (vs. OAK) - As I said earlier, Patty deserves to be the NFL MVP. In case you're curious, here are my picks for the other major awards:

  • Offensive Player of the Year: Drew Brees, QB, Saints - Brees gets the consolation prize for finishing as runner-up for MVP.
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Aaron Donald, DT, Rams - Donald is the rare defensive player who is in the MVP conversation.
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Baker Mayfield, QB, Browns - Saquon Barkley has been incredible, but Baker has reversed the fortunes for an entire franchise.
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year: Darius Leonard, LB, Colts - The QB of the Indianapolis defense leads the league in tackles by a wide margin.
  • Comeback Player of the Year: Andrew Luck, QB, Colts - J.J. Watt is also a candidate here, but Luck has been one of the best quarterback's in the NFL this year, after not playing last year.
  • Coach of the Year: Matt Nagy, Chicago Bears - There are a lot of good candidates (Andy Reid, Frank Reich, Anthony Lynn...), but Nagy has turned the Bears into a dangerous team.
  • Executive of the Year: John Dorsey, GM, Browns - There are also a lot of good candidates here (Ryan Pace, Chris Ballard, Tom Telesco...), but I'll make the biased pick.
Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers (vs. CIN) - It's a must-win game for Ben and the Steelers, and it's against one of the worst defenses in the National Football League.

Aaron Rodgers, Packers (vs. DET) - The Packers aren't going to the playoffs, but A-Rodge can close out the season on a high note against Detroit.

Sleepers

Nick Foles, Eagles (@ WAS) - After throwing four touchdown passes last week, Napoleon Dynamite needs a win (and a Vikings loss) to lead Philly back to the playoffs. Never bet against Nick.

Teddy Bridgewater, Saints (vs. CAR) - With the number one seed already locked up, New Orleans will rest many of its starters Sunday. That gives the former Minnesota first-rounder a chance.

Baker Mayfield, Browns (@ BAL) - I know he's facing the toughest defense in the NFL, but I wouldn't bet against Baker and a Browns team that has a chance to ruin Baltimore's season.

RB

Top 3

Saquon Barkley, Giants (vs. DAL) - Many top running backs will be resting this week, but not Saquon, who will try to cap off a great rookie season with a strong performance.

Melvin Gordon, Chargers (@ DEN) - The Chargers still have a shot at the number one seed, so their stars will be playing Sunday.

Chris Carson, Seahawks (vs. ARI) - Carson draws the best matchup of the weekend, against Arizona's league-worst rush defense.

Sleepers

C.J. Anderson, Rams (vs. SF) - It looks like the Rams will sit Todd Gurley again this week, which means Anderson, who had 167 yards rushing last week, will get another start.

Damien Williams, Chiefs (vs. OAK) - Kansas City's new feature back has played very well the last two weeks, and should play well Sunday against Oakland.

Jeff Wilson Jr., 49ers (@ LAR) - With Matt Breida out, Wilson will take the reigns again. He has played well when Breida has been out.

WR

Top 3

Julio Jones, Falcons (@ TB) - Atlanta's star wideout should be able to shred Tampa Bay's vulnerable secondary on Sunday.

Devante Adams, Packers (vs. DET) - Adams has quietly been one of the best and most consistent receivers in the NFL this season.

DeAndre Hopkins, Texans (vs. JAX) - The Texans have something to play for Sunday, which means Nuke will be out there making plays.

Sleepers

JuJu Smith-Schuster, Steelers (vs. CIN) - Antonio Brown is listed as questionable after not practicing this week. Whether AB plays (he probably will) or not, JuJu is a must-start.

Robby Anderson, Jets (@ NE) - Robby had 140 yards receiving last week, and he has scored a touchdown each of the last three weeks.

Adam Humphries, Buccaneers (vs. ATL) - Humphries has carved out a key role in the Tampa offense (he had 10 catches last week), and he faces a weak Atlanta defense on Sunday.

TE

Top 3

Travis Kelce, Chiefs (vs. OAK) - Unlike the other positions, there is no change at the top this week.

Zach Ertz, Eagles (@ WAS) - The top three tight ends happen to be on teams that are either playing for something this week...

George Kittle, 49ers (@ LAR) - ...or are already eliminated.

Sleeper

Evan Engram, Giants (vs. DAL) - Engram had 87 yards receiving (and 26 yards rushing) last week, and it once again looks like Odell Beckham Jr. won't suit up.

Jared Cook, Raiders (@ KC) - Cook hasn't done much the past two games, but Oakland's top pass-catcher should produce against Kansas City's atrocious defense.

Kyle Rudolph, Vikings (vs. CHI) - After a largely disappointing season, Rudolph finally broke out for 122 yards and two touchdowns last week. The Vikes need another big game from his this week.

D/ST

Top 3

Seattle Seahawks (vs. ARI) - It's been a rough year in Arizona, especially for the Cardinal offense, which faces a team that forced two turnovers last week and "held" Kansas City to 31 points.

Houston Texans (vs. JAX) - The Texans have something to play for, and we all know about Jacksonville's offensive woes (although Blake Bortles is back this week).

Los Angeles Rams (vs. SF) - Aaron Donald and the Rams host Nick Mullens and the Niners. I'll take Donald and the Rams.

Sleepers

Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. CIN) - The Bengals have lost just about every offensive playmaker they had, and they scored 16 points last week in Cleveland.

Philadelphia Eagles (@ WAS) - The clock struck midnight for Josh Johnson and Washington last week, and this week, they'll be facing another team in desperate need of a win.

Indianapolis Colts (@ TEN) - I could see this being a low-scoring game (or a Colts blowout), especially if Blaine Gabbert starts at quarterback for the Titans.

K

Top 3

Greg Zuerlein, Rams (vs. SF)

Harrison Butker, Chiefs (vs. OAK)

Stephen Gostkowski, Patriots (vs. NYJ)

Spread: NE -13.5   Over/Under: 46

The Giants almost defeated Indianapolis on the road last week, and Dallas might rest some starters.

This could be a high-scoring affair between two weak defenses, one I think Tampa will win.

Jaguars @ Texans (1:00 PM, CBS)

Blake Bortles should provide more than Cody Kessler did, but the Texans are a much better team.

Spread: HOU -6.5   Over/Under: 40

Prediction: Texans 27, Jaguars 16

Chargers @ Broncos (4:25 PM, CBS)

The Chargers, who still have a small shot at the one seed, should beat the banged-up Broncos.

The Chiefs need a win to lock up the division and home-field advantage, and they should get it.

49ers @ Rams (4:25 PM, CBS)

Spread: LAR -10.5   Over/Under: 48.5

Prediction: Rams 32, 49ers 17

Bears @ Vikings (4:25 PM, CBS)

Although the Bears have something to play for, I think Minnesota will pull out the win.

Spread: MIN -5.5   Over/Under: 40.5

Prediction: Vikings 23, Bears 20

Bengals @ Steelers (4:25 PM, CBS)

The Steelers need a win and a Baltimore loss (or Colts-Titans tie) to get in. They'll get the win.

Spread: PIT -14.5   Over/Under: 45.5

Prediction: Steelers 31, Bengals 21

Cardinals @ Seahawks (4:25 PM, FOX)

These two teams are going in completely opposite directions right now.

Spread: SEA -13   Over/Under: 38.5

Prediction: Seahawks 33, Cardinals 14

Eagles @ Redskins (4:25 PM, FOX)

As I said last week, Nick Foles and the Eagles are on a mission. Don't bet against Nick Foles.

Spread: PHI -7   Over/Under: 42

Prediction: Eagles 24, Redskins 16

Browns @ Ravens (4:25 PM, CBS)

In what could be the game of the day, I can't go against the dangerous Brownies.

Spread: BAL -6   Over/Under: 40.5

Prediction: Browns 24, Ravens 21

Colts @ Titans (8:20 PM, NBC)

The season ends with a classic "Win or Go Home" game. Anything can happen, but Indy is better.

Spread: IND -3.5   Over/Under: 44

Prediction: Colts 24, Titans 21

Fantasy Football/NFL Week 16 Preview

It's championship time (for most fantasy football leagues). It's time to strap in. It's time to focus all of your energy and attention on fantasy football (if you haven't already, which you should have been). It goes without saying (so I'm going to say it), but this is not the week to leave points on the bench. Lineup decisions this week leave no room for error. You have to make the right choices. Hopefully, I can help you do that.

Week 16 Picks to Click

QB

Top 3

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (@ SEA) - Despite losing to Phillip Rivers and the Chargers last week, Pat is still my favorite to win MVP.

Drew Brees, Saints (vs. PIT) - Brees and the dangerous Saints offense have been incredibly quiet the past three weeks, but I expect a bounce-back this week against Pittsburgh.

Andrew Luck, Colts (vs. NYG) - Luck didn't do much last week (he didn't need to), but he has thrown at least three touchdown passes in eight games this season.

Sleepers

Deshaun Watson, Texans (@ PHI) - The banged-up Philly secondary held the Rams in check last week, but may not hold Watson, who has over 200 yards passing in each of his last seven games.

Mitchell Trubisky, Bears (@ SF) - Mitchell, like Watson, brings upside thanks to his running ability, and he could do damage against a vulnerable San Francisco defense.

Baker Mayfield, Browns (vs. CIN) - Baker didn't have his best game last week, but he should play much better at home against a defense he lit up for four touchdowns last time.

RB

Top 3

Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys (vs. TB) - Zeke has eclipsed 100 total yards in each of his last seven games, and should do so again against the awful Tampa Bay defense.

Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (vs. ATL) - CMC didn't find the endzone last week, but I bet he will this week against a team that has not been able to stop opposing running backs.

Todd Gurley, Rams (vs. ARI) - Gurley hasn't done much in terms of yards the last two weeks, but that should change against the lowly Arizona Cardinals.

Sleepers

Derrick Henry, Titans (vs. WAS) - It turns out Henry's insane Thursday night performance may have not been a complete anomaly, as he followed it up with 170 yards and a touchdown last week.

Chris Carson, Seahawks (vs. KC) - Carson (who had 148 total yards and a touchdown last week) and the run-heavy Seahawks face the incredibly bad Kansas City defense this weekend.

Jamaal Williams, Packers (@ NYJ) - With Aaron Jones on IR, Williams has taken over lead-back duties for the Packers, and he should find some open field against the Jets.

WR

Top 3

DeAndre Hopkins, Texans (@ PHI) - Hopkins is making a claim as the best receiver in football. We'll see what he follows up his 170-yard, two-touchdown performance with.

Julio Jones, Falcons (@ CAR) - Jones, who has 1,511 yards receiving and six touchdowns (!!) this season, will produce against the free-falling Panthers.

Devante Adams, Packers (@ NYJ) - Adams has been targeted 37 total times the past three weeks, and could tear up the Jets like Hopkins did last week.

Sleepers

Alshon Jeffery, Eagles (vs. HOU) - Jeffery was Nick Foles' favorite deep threat Sunday night, finishing with eight catches for 160 yards.

DaeSean Hamilton, Broncos (@ OAK) - The Broncos have struggled, but Hamilton seems to be the number one receiver (he was targeted 12 times last week).

Robby Anderson, Jets (vs. GB) - Anderson has scored each of the last two weeks, and also had 11 targets and 96 yards last week.

TE

Top 3

Travis Kelce, Chiefs (@ SEA) - The top three...

Zach Ertz, Eagles (vs. HOU) - ...at this position...

George Kittle, 49ers (vs. CHI) - ...is pretty clear.

Sleepers

Evan Engram, Giants (@ IND) - OBJ will be out again this week. Without him last week, Engram has eight catches (on 12 targets) for 75 yards.

David Njoku, Browns (vs. CIN) - Last time these two teams met, Njoku had five catches for 63 yards and a touchdown.

Ian Thomas, Panthers (vs. ATL) - The tight end may be Taylor Heinicke's preferred target against the weak Atlanta defense this weekend.

D/ST

Top 3

Chicago Bears (@ SF) - The best defense in the National Football League faces former undrafted third-string quarterback Nick Mullens this week.

Tennessee Titans (vs. WAS) - I'm rooting for Josh Johnson, but I'm going to need to see more than just a solid game against the rock-bottom Jaguars to be sold.

Los Angeles Rams (@ ARI) - Arizona's punchless offense could have trouble against Aaron Donald and the Rams

Sleepers

Miami Dolphins (vs. JAX) - Speaking of the rock-bottom Jaguars...

Denver Broncos (@ OAK) - Denver's tough defense faces Oakland's tough (in a bad way) offense.

Washington Redskins (@ TEN) - This will probably be a low-scoring game.

K

Top 3

Greg Zuerlein, Rams (@ ARI)

Will Lutz, Saints (vs. PIT)

Ka'imi Fairbairn, Texans (@ PHI)

Saturday

Redskins @ Titans (4:30 PM, NFL Network)

It probably won't happen, but imagine Josh Johnson leading Washington to the playoffs.

Spread: TEN -11   Over/Under: 37.5

Prediction: Titans 19, Redskins 13

Ravens @ Chargers (8:20 PM, NFL Network)

Lamar and the Ravens need this win, but Phillip and the Chargers are rolling right now.

Spread: LAC -4   Over/Under: 42.5

Prediction: Chargers 28, Ravens 21

Sunday

Falcons @ Panthers (1:00 PM, FOX)

I don't have much faith in the Panthers at this point, especially without Cam Newton.

Spread: ATL -3   Over/Under: 44.5

Prediction: Falcons 27, Panthers 14

Bills @ Patriots (1:00 PM, CBS)

The Bills and their stingy defense could keep them in this, but the Patriots should prevail.

Spread: NE -13.5   Over/Under: 44

Prediction: Patriots 24, Bills 17

Bengals @ Browns (1:00 PM, CBS)

The team with Hue Jackson will lose this game. The team with Baker Mayfield will win this game.

Spread: CLE -10   Over/Under: 44

Prediction: Browns 31, Bengals 20

Packers @ Jets (1:00 PM, FOX)

Neither of these teams is particularly good, but I believe the Packers have more talent.

Spread: GB -3   Over/Under: 46.5

Prediction: Packers 21, Jets 17

Texans @ Eagles (1:00 PM, CBS)

Nick Foles and the Eagles are on a mission, so I'm not betting against them.

Spread: PHI -2   Over/Under: 46

Prediction: Eagles 27, Texans 24

Jaguars @ Dolphins (1:00 PM, CBS)

While I advise not betting against Foles and the Eagles, I advise not betting on Kessler and the Jags.

Spread: MIA -3.5   Over/Under: 38.5

Prediction: Dolphins 22, Jaguars 13

Vikings @ Lions (1:00 PM, FOX)

The Vikings looked good last week in a rout of the Dolphins, while the Lions...

Spread: MIN -6   Over/Under: 42.5

Prediction: Vikings 30, Lions 17

Giants @ Colts (1:00 PM, CBS)

The Giants, sans OBJ, will have a tough time upsetting the Colts, who just shut out the Cowboys.

Spread: IND -9.5   Over/Under: 48

Prediction: Colts 21, Giants 14

Buccaneers @ Cowboys (1:00 PM, FOX)

Speaking of the 'boys, they should be able to bounce back from the poor showing against the Colts.

Spread: DAL -7   Over/Under: 48

Prediction: Cowboys 29, Buccaneers 17

Bears @ 49ers (4:05 PM, FOX)

Don't look now but the Niners have won two in a row (I still expect the Bears to win this one).

Spread: CHI -4.5   Over/Under: 43

Prediction: Bears 24, 49ers 17

Rams @ Cardinals (4:05 PM, FOX)

The Rams have struggles lately, but a meeting with the Cardinals may get them rolling again.

Spread: LAR -14   Over/Under: 44

Prediction: Rams 31, Cardinals 14

Steelers @ Saints (4:25 PM, FOX)

I don't know where the Saints' offense went, but I think it'll reappear against Pittsburgh.

Spread: NO -6.5   Over/Under: 53

Prediction: Saints 32, Steelers 24

Chiefs @ Seahawks (8:20 PM, NBC)

I'm tempted to go with the Seahawks at home... you know what, I'll go with the Seahawks at home.

Spread: KC -1.5   Over/Under: 55

Prediction: Seahawks 30, Chiefs 28

Monday

Broncos @ Raiders (8:15 PM, ESPN)

Not exactly an ideal primetime matchup, but at least we'll get to see the terrorizing Denver defense.

Spread: DEN -3   Over/Under: 42

Prediction: Broncos 24, Raiders 14

Fantasy Football/NFL Week 15 Preview

If your fantasy football playoffs didn't start last week, they probably start this week. With key players getting injured and team fighting for playoff spots, surprising things can happen. The goal is to put together a lineup with the best chance to win you a playoff matchup. The rest is out of your control.

If you don't need to see where you're throwing to complete a pass, you're probably pretty good.

Week 15 Picks to Click

QB

Top 3

Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs (vs. LAC) - The best quarterback in football this season gets an enticing Thursday night matchup against Phillip Rivers and the Chargers. Mahomes should continue rolling towards a possible MVP this week.

Drew Brees, Saints (@ CAR) - Brees and the New Orleans has slowed down considerably the last few weeks, but should bounce back against a struggling Carolina squad that has lost five straight and couldn't stop Jameis Winston and Baker Mayfield the last two weeks.

Jared Goff, Rams (vs. PHI) - Goff struggled against the best defense in the league in cold Chicago last week, but he should bounce back against a Philly secondary ravaged by injuries. The Eagles allowed 455 yards and three touchdowns to Dak Prescott last week.

Sleepers

Baker Mayfield, Browns (@ DEN) - At this point, if you don't think Baker is blossoming into a star, you haven't been paying attention. Since Freddie Kitchens took over as offensive coordinator, Baker has thrown 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Josh Allen, Bills (vs. DET) - Each of the last three weeks, Josh Allen has run for at least 99 yards. The passing is still a work in progress, but he has upside thanks to his surprising success on the ground, and he's worth a look against a Lions team mired in a lost season.

Lamar Jackson, Ravens (vs. TB) - We have three rookies here this week, two of whom have been here multiple times before. Like Allen, Jackson's a work in progress, but brings upside with his legs. Tampa Bay does not have an elite defense.

RB

Top 3

Todd Gurley, Rams (vs. PHI) - Like the rest of the Rams offense, Gurley was relatively quiet in Chicago. He should go return to his prior production this week against the struggling Eagles, who gave up 113 yards on 28 carries to Ezekiel Elliott last week.

Christian McCaffrey, Panthers (vs. NO) - The Panthers have been mired in a five-game skid, but CMC has still been extremely productive. Against a New Orleans that has been tough against the run but extremely weak against the pass, McCaffrey should continue to produce.

Saquon Barkley, Giants (vs. TEN) - You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him. Actually, you can't really even hope that. Saquon has 637 total yards and six total touchdowns the last five games, and he should continue to roll.

Sleepers

Justin Jackson, Chargers (@ KC) - Austin Ekeler is out tonight, and Melvin Gordon is questionable. Enter Jackson, who is averaging six yards per carry in limited time. If Gordon sits, Jackson could feast on a bad Kansas City defense.

Damien Williams, Chiefs (vs. LAC) - On the other side tonight, Damien Williams will be starting with Spencer Ware out. Just by virtue of playing significant snaps in the Kansas City offense, Williams becomes an intriguing fantasy option this week.

Josh Adams, Eagles (@ LAR) - He didn't do much last week, but Adams is still Philadelphia's top back, and with Carson Wentz out, the Eagles may run more. The Bears had success running on L.A. last week.

WR

Top 3

Michael Thomas, Saints (@ CAR) - Jarvis Landry couldn't be stopped by Carolina last week, and Mike, who just passed Landry (and OBJ) for most catches by a receiver in his first three seasons, is already hard to stop.

Keenan Allen, Chargers (@ KC) - The heavily-involved Allen has a touchdown in each of his last five games, and the Kansas City defense, which ranks last in the NFL against the pass (282.1 yards allowed per game), will have a hard time stopping him from making it six straight with a score.

DeAndre Hopkins, Texans (@ NYJ) - Hopkins only caught four of his 10 targets for 36 yards last week in Indy, but he still had a touchdown. The Jets, who gave up 104 yards receiving to Robert Foster last week, might struggle a little bit with Nuke Hopkins.

Sleepers

Jarvis Landry, Browns (@ DEN) - Landry has re-emerged in Freddie Kitchens' creative offense, eclipsing 50 yards receiving and 50 yards rushing last week. Saturday, he faces the Broncos, who (according to ESPN's Matthew Berry) have allowed the fourth-most yards in the slot this season.

Curtis Samuel, Panthers (vs. NO) - The past two weeks, Samuel has totaled 19 targets, 10 catches and 168 yards. This week, he faces a New Orleans defense that is 28th in the league against the pass (271.2 yards allowed per game).

Courtland Sutton, Broncos (vs. CLE) - After Emmanuel Sanders went down last week, it was assumed the talented rookie would step. He didn't last week, but he might Saturday night against a Denzel Ward-less Cleveland defense.

TE

Top 3

Travis Kelce, Chiefs (vs. LAC) - Kelce continues to be unstoppable (he had 77 yards and a touchdown last week), and tonight, he should produce in what looks like it could be a high-scoring affair.

Zach Ertz, Eagles (@ LAR) - The loss of Carson Wentz should not deter you from Ertz, who has been targeted a total of 26 times the past three weeks. In a game where Philly might fall behind early, Ertz will be needed.

Eric Ebron, Colts (vs. DAL) - I thought about George Kittle, who had 210 yards in the first half last week (and zero in the second half), but I'm going with Ebron, who has 36 targets and five touchdown in the last four games in which he's played.

Sleepers

Jared Cook, Raiders (@ CIN) - Cook borders on not being a sleeper (you should start him if you have him), but he did go a bit quiet for a few weeks, only to come back with a bang. He has eclipsed 100 yards each of the past two weeks, and has scored in three of his last four games.

Ian Thomas, Panthers (vs. NO) - Thomas took over when Greg Olsen went down with a season-ending injury, and he's been as productive as Olsen, if not more so. He has 14 catches and 123 yards the past two weeks.

Kyle Rudolph, Vikings (vs. MIA) - It's only a matter of time before Minnesota's top red zone target finds the endzone, right. The good news is, Miami has given up 18 touchdowns to tight ends this season (according to ESPN).

D/ST

Top 3

Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. WAS) - The duo of Josh Johnson and Mark Sanchez don't inspire confidence, and a week after getting trounced by the Giants, they have to face a tougher defense in Jacksonville.

Houston Texans (@ NYJ) - The vaunted Houston defense gets the (whatever the opposite of vaunted is) New York offense this weekend. Sam Darnold will have some trouble against Watt, Clowney and co.

Buffalo Bills (vs. DET) - It's usually a low-scoring game when Buffalo is involved, and the Lions have scored a total of 39 points in their last three contests.

Sleepers

Seattle Seahawks (@ SF) - The Seahawks are rolling (the defense had a touchdown and a blocked field goal Monday night), and, although they have one of the best tight ends in the league, the 49ers still have Nick Mullens at quarterback.

Los Angeles Rams (vs. PHI) - The Rams have been involved in multiple high-scoring games, taking away fantasy value from their defense, but they do have the best player in the league (Aaron Donald) and are playing a backup quarterback (albeit one that won Super Bowl MVP last season).

Atlanta Falcons (vs. ARI) - The Falcons are by no means a good defensive team, but they host the worst offensive team in the league this weekend.

Kicker

Top 3

Greg Zuerlein, Rams (vs. PHI)

Justin Tucker, Ravens (vs. TB)

Harrison Butker, Chiefs (vs. LAC)

Thursday

Chargers @ Chiefs (8:20 PM, FOX/NFL Network)

In a battle of elite quarterbacks, I'll go with Patty Mahomes and the host Chiefs.

Spread: KC -3.5   Over/Under: 54.5

Prediction: Chiefs 32, Chargers 28

Saturday

Texans @ Jets (4:30 PM, NFL Network)

It's that time of year when we get Saturday games, but the first one of 2018 isn't that compelling.

Spread: HOU -6.5   Over/Under: 41.5

Prediction: Texans 30, Jets 14

Browns @ Broncos (8:20 PM, NFL Network)

This matchup is more compelling, and I'll take Baker and the surging Browns in it.

Spread: DEN -2.5   Over/Under: 45.5

Prediction: Browns 28, Broncos 24

Sunday

Cardinals @ Falcons (1:00 PM, FOX)

In this battle of beaten birds, the smart money is on Matt Ryan and the host Falcons.

Spread: ATL -9.5   Over/Under: 44

Prediction: Falcons 28, Cardinals 17

Lions @ Bills (1:00 PM, FOX)

Josh Allen and the Bills, despite losing last week, have looked better, and I think they'll beat Detroit.

Spread: BUF -2   Over/Under: 39.5

Prediction: Bills 24, Lions 21

Packers @ Bears (1:00 PM, FOX)

Don't look now, but Aaron Rodgers and co. still have a shot at making the playoffs! I believe!!

Spread: CHI -6   Over/Under: 45

Prediction: Packers 27, Bears 24

Raiders @ Bengals (1:00 PM, CBS)

This... will probably not be a showcase of the best the NFL has to offer. I'll side with the hosts.

Spread: CIN -3   Over/Under: 46

Prediction: Bengals 26, Raiders 21

Cowboys @ Colts (1:00 PM, FOX)

This, on the other hand, will be a compelling game. Once again, I'll side with the hosts.

Spread: IND -3   Over/Under: 47

Prediction: Colts 24, Cowboys 17

Dolphins @ Vikings (1:00 PM, CBS)

This is a must win for Minnesota, and I think the Vikings will get it done at home against Miami.

Spread: MIN -7.5   Over/Under: 44.5

Prediction: Vikings 21, Dolphins 13

Titans @ Giants (1:00 PM, CBS)

The Giants have looked better of late, but I'll take the Titans here in a crucial game for them.

Spread: NYG -2   Over/Under: 43.5

Prediction: Titans 23, Giants 20

Redskins @ Jaguars (1:00 PM, CBS)

This will be an ugly game, which is the kind of games the Jaguars win.

Spread: JAC -7.5   Over/Under: 36

Prediction: Jaguars 29, Redskins 6

Buccaneers @ Ravens (1:00 PM, FOX)

The Ravens, who almost beat the Chiefs with a rookie QB last week, are rolling right now.

Spread: BAL -7.5   Over/Under: 46.5

Prediction: Ravens 27, Buccaneers 17

Seahawks @ 49ers (4:05 PM, FOX)

Seattle is also rolling, but the Niners should be able to keep it close with them.

Spread: SEA -3.5   Over/Under: 44

Prediction: Seahawks 22, 49ers 17

Patriots @ Steelers (4:25 PM, CBS)

New England will not make the mistake of putting Rob Gronkowski on defense again.

Spread: NE -2.5   Over/Under: 52

Prediction: Patriots 31, Steelers 24

Eagles @ Rams (8:20 PM, NBC)

The Rams should bounce back from last week's loss at home in sunny California against the Eagles.

Spread: LAR -11.5   Over/Under: 52.5

Prediction: Rams 34, Eagles 17

Monday

Saints @ Panthers (8:15 PM, ESPN)

The Panthers are on a plane destined to crash into the ocean, and there is nothing they can do.

Spread: NO -6.5   Over/Under: 51.5

Prediction: Saints 38, Panthers 21
