Will the Dynasty Fall?

The Golden State Warriors have created an absolute dominate dynasty over the last couple years, but if you are a fan of sports, you know that. They have arguably the greatest shooter all time in Stephen Curry and possibly the second best shooter of all time in Klay Thompson. Kevin Durant joined the team in 2016 and could be the best player in the league right now. Draymond Green has been a defensive player of the year and a do it all all star for the Warriors. Since 2014, they have won the finals 3 times in 4 years and are really on pace to win the title again this year for a three peat.

While I love the Warriors as much as the next guy, this year may be the year the Warriors dynasty may start to fall.

But they have two of the top five players in the league and two other all-stars so how in the world could they lose? (For the record, I know they have Demarcus Cousins but with his injury I am going to leave him out of this.)

Lets look into it.

NBA seasons are long as it is. Playing 82 games from October to April is tough on any team and player but once you start to add the playoffs, the NBA Finals Champion is playing well over 100 games in a season in most cases. That makes you appreicate all of the great dynasties of all time. The 90s Bulls and even the early 2000 Lakers, most recently, show what it takes to be great. But every great dynasty seems to end sooner than it seems they should. Teams get lazy. Winning consistent championships is hard to do, no matter how good your team is. The Warriors have been ending their season in the middle of June the last four years and have three and a half months before they start the season all over again. After a while it gets taxing on the body and mind. It gets really hard to come out and play a game in January when you know the real games count in May and June. The Warriors have shown signs of that this season as they have six loses of 25+ points during this season. They are losing games to teams they shouldn't and have gotten a little lazy and have had a hard time focusing this season and it has been obvious to see on the court.

Kevin Durant's free agency is starting to get annoying to this team and it is obvious. KD has talked about just wanting to hoop this year and is getting tired of getting constant questions about his upcoming free agency, but, with rumors flying that he is for sure going to New York next season, it is hard to focus on that. That was obvious EARLY in the season when KD and Draymond Green got into it and exchanged heated words and Green brought up his impending free agency decision. The distraction takes away from basketball and can kind of drive a wedge into some of the players relationships with each other as the season wears on.

Lastly, teams are hungry. The Houston Rockets feel they were robbed last year with the way they lost to the Warriors, so they are hungry and want another shot at this Warrior team. In the East, the Bucks with Ginnas, the Raptors and Kawahi, and even the 76ers with Joel Embiid all want a chance to take down the champs and they will give everything they have to take them down.

The Warriors dynasty has been so good for the basketball world and with the emergence of Steph Curry has changed the way the game is completely played but the end may be near. This teams window is starting to close. While they are one of the most criticized teams in recent memory, people should appreciate what this team has done for the NBA because it will not be here much longer. And once it's gone, it's gone.
